The Canasta Group meet every Wednesday between 10am and 12 noon in the John Williams room of The Old School.  Canasta is a card game played with two packs of cards either as an individual competing against other individuals or as a pair challenging another pair of players.  Cards are sorted into groups or “melds” and a meld of seven cards forms a Canasta [basket – Spanish].  Points are awarded for the Melds and Canastas made amongst other scoring opportunities!

All are welcome from complete novices to seasoned players, and we enjoy the friendly rivalry the game encourages.  Our members pay their Room Hire dues on the first Wednesday of each month or later Wednesdays if the first is missed.  All new members will be allowed a “trial” period on registration with the group, so come and join our group and discover a game of skill and cunning!

We also run a fun League over each 8 week period with the Winner receiving a small prize!
